Arunima Misra

Arunima was born in Southampton and battled neuroblastoma nerve cancer in her spine as a baby. The cancer resulted in a condition called Para-paresis (weakness of legs) and she has been a wheelchair user all her life.

Not one to let anything stand in her way, Arunima was determined to pursue her ambitions. After studying Law at Cambridge University and training at the magic circle law firm Allen & Overy, Arunima now lives in London, furthering her career as a banking and finance lawyer.

After experiencing first-hand the dramatic impact and difference which the right wheelchair at the right time made on her life and future, Arunima has been an ambassador, consultant and spokesperson for the national young person’s charity Whizz-Kidz for the past 20 years. Since then and as someone who has had the experience of living with insufficient equipment, she has been campaigning and championing for better, more forward-thinking and user-focussed wheelchair services.

Arunima is an animal lover and one day dreams of having a side-car attached to her powerchair to ride around with a canine companion! She also enjoys singing and travel and is not averse to the odd game of bingo!
